Being bored with a handful of music blogs to look through can be a good thing. I find a lot of recycled trash, but every once in awhile I find trash recycled into art. Change Leopardon I discovered while making my stroll through Rose Quartz. Change Leopardon is Ren Sánchez from Purchase, NY. His Myspace about section puts it better than I can, but when I listen to his record Juchitan I feel like those seconds flying through the air after being hit by a car. In the good way. You know? Everyone enjoys music differently whether it be in the car, stoned on the couch, at the gym, or in a cafe. In this process of experiencing someone’s creation, we are manifesting our own desires and fears as we listen. This is why music is so important. It is a cathartic process that everyone experiences and takes from whether they know it or not.

Thanks to Delicious Scopitone, I have found something that is going to define the next era of my life. How To Dress Well(HTDW) have been appearing all over the webdar. I realize bands come and go, but I really believe HTDW have something special to offer us. On the first listen I thought my speakers were blown, but I put headphones on and experienced bliss for the next few hours. They have released, for free, six EPs on their own blog and it doesn’t seem like they are slowing down. Keep them in your ears for the next few months and watch something beautiful happen.

Summer is upon us. It truly is. It might not feel like it, but we know great things are about to happen. Hollywood blockbusters, sweltering festivals, and cut off shorts. To be honest, I am most excited for cut offs and Larry Gus. Larry Gus is Panagiotis Melidis whose new album Stitches just came out on Cast-A-Blast Records. Panagiotis emailed us to say that he is “just a guy from Greece… living in Barcelona working on The Freesound Project.” I think Panagiotis is more than just a guy, he is the sound of summer. His audio snippets are going to be blaring from my battery operated boom box while I bike to the beach. Watch his videos, you’ll be doing the same thing.

I want to tell you a story about Tennis, but first I need to tell you about yoga. I don’t know that much about yoga. I have been a few times and I would like to make it a regular habit. The last Introduction to Yoga class I went to focused on the backside of our bodies. My back was curved inward and outward, my neck was stretched to lengthen my spine, and my lower back was aching from the pressure. My mind was clear and our teacher started to paint the portrait of our back being like sails that were catching the wind. In between poses he would remind us that the wind had shifted. Things were about to change physically and spiritually, new adventures awaited.

This is the story of Tennis. Alaina and Patrick currently reside in landlocked Denver, Colorado where they decided to follow a dream of sailing the seas. Looking for nothing, but gaining the inspiration create and inspire. Their winds have shifted over time, but they are to create joyous songs and share them with anyone who will listen. A definition from the Miriam-Webster Dictionary tells us that potluck is a communal meal to which people bring food to share.  Where I brought delicious Olympia Beer and hoped for some food for thought in return.  I realized it was my lucky night when I sat down to eat with my buddy Christian.  Christian runs Propensity Design Lab and his work is seen in most neighborhoods around the Seattle area.  Above and beyond his work in design, he is an exemplary musician and I thought this would be the perfect time for a Mouth Breathers post. We talked about what was going on with the Seattle hip hop scene and the future of his mysterious band Dead Witch. He then told me about The War on Drugs. When I went home to listen, body and mind were finally full.

The War on Drugs bring all and more to the table. Their music is lush sonic waves and energetic emotion spilling over onto the kids table. They are the bread basket that is always full and the wine that sticks to the edge of the glass, making imprints on the mind. They are the record spinning during the after meal coffee that sticks on your breath. They are the reason we hate and love mouth breathers.
