Havergal – Lungs For The Race
Back in 2001, after two amazing 7″s and an instrumental 10″, Havergal released Lungs For The Race on Secretly Canadian. Using little more than a guitar, sampler and a drum machine, Havergal principal Ryan Murphy crafted simple layers of music with which to state, more so than sing, his morose lyrics over. Written over the course of three years, the album is lo-fi but far from sloppy, with each song utilizing it’s simplicity to great effect. Creating a world of beautiful melancholia, Lungs For The Race is the type of record you listen to when you are alone.

Candy Claws have created something that leaves the listener speechless.
“In the Dream of the Sea Life” by Candy Claws was recorded in Italy, Fort Collins, and the Philippines over the past two years. The album is a musical companion to Rachel Carson’s 1951 book, “The Sea Around Us.” The 10-song cd comes packaged in a full-color dvd case, complete with a 12-page art booklet, a sticker, and a handmade art print.

Natural Snow Buildings

Natural Snow Buildings is the project of French duo Mehdi Ameziane (TwinSisterMoon) and Solange Gularte (Isengrind). Since their formation in 1997, they have released numerous and extensive albums on limited edition cds, tapes and cdr’s. Their sound is a culmination of folk, ambient, drone and psychedelia, but is ultimately their own.

Halloween is soon approaching and among the many costumes one is bound to see every year is some clown wearing a president mask. Personally, I think these masks are only good for one thing.
