Drummer

drummer

The 90’s are back!… in Akron, Ohio. Forget the DeLorean, Drummer’s sound will take you back two full decades and leave you asking: What the hell is an iPod and why won’t it play my Guns N’ Roses tape?

Drummer was initiated by the Black Keys’ drummer Patrick Carney. In total the band is made up of  five members (Gregory Boyd, Steve Clements, Jon Finley and Jamie Stillman). There are zero gimmicks associated with this music. Why is that? This music is good enough that it will promote itself. I have only heard the six tracks made available via Myspace and the Audio Eagle Records‘ site and each one could hold its own as a single. The debut record: “Feel Good Together” is set to release on 9/29/09. LOOK OUT FOR THIS RELEASE and give Drummer a listen, you’ll feel better; I promise.

Grand Hallway Brings Pop Perfection

That, my friends, is the teaser for Grand Hallway’s new album “Promenade” that drops September 15, 2009. Grand Hallway has built a strong local following with their stunning live shows that showcase the depth in each of their powerful pop songs.

“Promenade” is an explosive movement in the soul of pop. The songs flow freely and fluidly from the soul of each of the band mates, as Tomo’s voice soars above. The songs become unique, but part of a whole.

You can see them with a full orchestra (and kids choir) for their CD release show: September 17, 2009 @ The Fremont Abbey

ALSO, be on the watch for an exclusive Camp Revival video short with the members of Grand Hallway. Coming next month!

WAVVES + Zach Hill?????

zach-hill-nathan-williams

Zach Hill is owning August 17th, 2009 on Camp Revival. I was perusing elbo.ws and came across a post (Thanks FMLY) that drove me to Nathan Williams’ (Wavves) blog. On August 12th Nathan  posted a new track that has Zach Hill playing drums on it. The track is titled: “Cool Jumper”. The track has caused much speculation as to whether or not this is the first of many Wavves / Zach collaborations. As far as my research has lead me, I can’t confirm anything. All I can write is: A guy can hope; can’t he?

CHLL PLL

Zach Hill is the John Henry of percussion. He has been destroying the need for drum machines since he first picked up drum sticks back in 1995. CHLL PLL, one of Zach’s many side projects, will be releasing their debut album: Aggresively Humble on October 20th through Porter Records. CHLL PLL is Zachary Nelson (Hexlove) and Zach Hill, with a guest appearance by Zachariah Dellorto Blackwell (Danava); CHLL PLL should change their name to: Zach Attack!

I’ve only heard three tracks from CHLL PLL, but already they are one of the most exciting projects that my ears have caught wind of, ever. They embody everything that is great about music: It’s fresh, shocking and could fall apart at any moment. The first song to be formally released from the album is “Dick Moves”. There are two more tracks on the band’s myspace. I strongly encourage you to listen to the track: “pass out“. That is the song that really blew my mind.

Other Girls

Other Girls is four grown men’s last chance to not grow up. These men have made some serious sacrifices to keep music a part of their lives. With two of the band members expecting children, one band member working full-time as a plumber and one member working over-time as a carpenter it must have taken some serious multi-tasking and determination to get this project off the ground. The band recently released their debut album ‘Perfect cities’ in June through Audio Eagle Records and is currently touring in support of the release.

It is a lame comparison, but I think you’ll agree with me when I note that I hear: Band of Horses and The Shins in this music. Regardless of comparisons, this music is inspiring, and even if you aren’t into polygamy it’s time to start thinking about including Other Girls in your life.
